put together a deal on a yamaha saltseries 250hp for a 1987 outrage 22'hullwith whaler drive. transom height at the center is 281/2". It looks like a 30 inch shaft mounted an inch or so up would be about right. Does anyone know specifically how high would work out the best and what prop would be a good compromise between speed and acceleration out of the hole? Thanks, Greg

That's what I got, a 22' Outrage with Whaler Drive and Yamaha 250.

It takes a 25" shaft. Also, with no tee top or other large accessories, a 19" pitch prop is just about perfect. I have the Yamaha SS Saltwater Series II prop in that pitch with my setup. I have a Tee Top and Front Curtain, both which slow the boat down somewhat.

I spin about 5200RPM's with a Mod/Heavy Load. I really would be better going to a 17" prop.

Please ask any questions. I find that hull with that motor a great great package.

Expect at least 3 mpg too !
