I have the newport at the dealer getting its new power and need a new fuel tank. The original fiberglass tank, a pate I assume, has several cracks and after 23 years of use is worn out. I have been looking at the Moeller 26 gallon tank and the deminsions look right for an under RPS installation. I looked at one and was wondering if there are any clearence problems with the fuel line elbow under the seat. I realize that with its tall cap it will have to be mounted slighty aft for filling. Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated. I know the Pate is really the way to go but that $400 price tag is strong. I can pick up the moeller for $105 from cabelas. thanks in advance

Food for thought....reapair the pate? It is only fiberglass, can't be hard to lay some mat on it.

That is a good point Bigshot. I have looked at it and thought of repairing it. it sat for about six years half full of fuel (oil and fuel mix). The bottom is caked with geled oil (really not that big of a deal) and the supply line has major funk on it, cap is rusted and the filler hole is funked up as well. Sorda wanted to put a new tank with the new engine.
