Author	Topic:   Anyone have experience with Solas props?
Perry	posted 03-10-2003 12:12 AM ET (US)         Does anyone have any experience with Solas stainless steel props? A local boat shop has them on sale and I am thinking about buying one. The salesman says they're great but I'd like some first hand input before I spend $250.
Clark Roberts	posted 03-10-2003 06:49 AM ET (US)             Perry, I just bought a new Solas 15" pitch (for mid size gearcase Merc/Yamaha) and have run it on my 115 Merc EFI four stroker and it performs same as the 15" pitch Stilletto. It does not have the vent holes as does other prop but seems to be a fine piece of hardware. I bought it for a spare (at $200 I got a brand new prop instead of some used POS) and when my Stilleto needs replacing will use the Solas as primary prop). Happy Whalin'... Clark
Perry	posted 03-10-2003 12:04 PM ET (US)             Thanks Clark, Do you know which model Solas you bought, Saturn, New Saturn or Titan? I've been doing some research online and have found they make 3 different models.
doobee	posted 03-11-2003 11:59 PM ET (US)             We were talking about aluminum props at the time, but I have heard that some prop repair shops prefer working on Solas because the quality of the casting is better. I'm planning to try a four blade aluminum Solas on my Rev.
