I know I read a post on this topic before here but I can't seem to find it....
I am the proud owner of a new to me Outrage 17'.
The fish box located behind the leaning post has a bottom plug, a bilge pump, and an open side plug. Here are my questions:
Where does the side (maybe overflow) drain, drain to or from?
There is a another drain hole that has a threaded plug at the front of the well. It appears to lead to the fuel tank area. When I pulled that plug a few gallons of water came out. I believe the water got in there because there are open screw holes in the fish box where the hydraulic arm mounts for the lid.
If that is a drain for the fuel tank area, can I assume that it is on the bottom of that area and that no addtional water is being held below it?
Does the fuel tank area have another location that it drains to?
Last question..Is there anywhere that I can get a diagram of this boat that shows how it is constructed beneath the floor so that I can see what areas are foam and what areas are open (i.e. fuel tank area, cable routes)?
Any help is appreciated.

I am in the same boat(no really, a 97 Outrage 17). My investigations show the following:

The bottom plug is the inlet for water.
The side opening is the recirculation output from the bilge pump. When the pump is on, water will flow from the hole into the well.
There is a plug in the front of the well should be the gasket for the wiring harness to the bilge pump. The wiring does run into the area surrounding the fuel tank.

The Outrage manual I got from the original owner has no detailed information about this model (too general), and I for one am wondering about what appears to be a fire extinguisher well in the starboard gunwale.

Hope this helps a bit.

PRM...I can tell you that the starboard well is for a fire extinguisher. I am still curious about what is in the space beneath the console and how the fuel tank area drains water.
If the side hole is to recirc, then why if you plug the bottom and turn on the bilge pump does all water drain out the side of the boat? Maybe I wasn't paying close enough attention when it was in the water but that seemed to be the case.

It took me awhile to figure out what that extra hole was for in the Large Fish Well..

This is a VENT hole...

If you have also ever wondered what that small Clam Shell is in the upper stern, on the Starboard side, next to the backrest cushion, this is the other end of the VENT from the hole is the Fish Well.

The Bilge Pump does pump the water out the Starboard side of the boat, amidship... This is were the water from the Bilge exits...

The pocket on the Starboard side is for the Fire Extinguisher...

Note: some earlier 1996 models did not have the
Vent in the Fish Well nor the Clamshell on the Stern, and they did not have the Fire Extinguisher Pocket. They also did not have the Automatic Bilge Pump switch, only the Manual, single switch.

My 1998 catalog features an Option of a Super Leaning Post with Livewell.... This livewell is built into the Super Leaning Post...

Hey guys - the live-well is, I believe, under the port rear quarter seat. The bilge pump in the under-deck storage compartment discharges water just a bit forward and down of the starboard rub-rail. I have noticed the hole in the under-deck storage compartment - and I don't know where this drains to - I would suspect the tunnel, but that is just a wag. ----- Jerry/Idaho

Whalersman....Do you know anything about the underfloor area ahead of the livewell where the fueltank is located?
If water is in that area, how/where does it drain? Also, what is the purpose of the threaded plug inside the livewell that seems to lead to the fuel tank area?

I do not remember my boat having a threaded plug in the Fish Well. Could have been, just don't remember it..

I sold my 1997 Outrage 17 last year so I have no way of checking it out now.

A buddy of mine has the 1996 Outrage 17 but I won't be seeing it for awhile...
