I little while ago I had asked the group about this motor. I now have pics at this site:

Is there anything that sets it apart from any other 1991 Johnson 150 - or does it just have a cool sticker package?

Thanks, Ed

The URI you include does not lead to pictures. I suggest checking it.

Whopps,

Thanks Jim for the heads up. The URL should now offer pictures of the Johnson Silver Star motor mounted to my 1991 Outrage 19.

Captbone, thanks!

That is a nice looking rig. But that is just a standard 60 degree 150 Omc with nice decals. That is the same powerhead that the 2003 Johnson have on their 150/175, but the lower unit is a early model, the same casing as the commercials outboards. Should be a great motor and parts are everywhere and cheap. As if you want you can always get a used hood or decals and turn it in an ocean pro/oceanrunner for less than $100.00. I love the look of the ocean pros but even the way it is it looks great.

Capt,

The mechanic who performed all of the maintainence on the engine during the PO 12 years of ownership said the following to me:

"I wouldn't buy OMC by choice, unless it was this motor. It was the most robust 150hp ever made."

His favorite is Yamaha.

The engine and hull have just 416 hours. A compression test found all cylinders to be between 105 and 110 PSI

Regards, Ed

Read my 1991 catalog last night and all the 150's were the silver star series and then they had the fast strike for bass boats.....nothing special.
