Was going to go with the 115, but decided to heed sage advice (Bigshot and JB). Hull is a 1972 pre-smirk nauset formerly powered by 1975 85 hp rude. Do I need a jackplate to avoid altering splash well in order to access lower mounting bolts, and if so which plate is recommended. Also is 13X19 the best prop choice?

thanks

Hi, Detra.

Yes, I recommend a jackplate, or a non-adjustable 4" setback plate like mine. Unfortunately I don't remember where I got it.

I use an 18" SS prop, but most folks use a 17". I think a 19" would overprop your boat.

Red sky at night. . .

is boat is lighter JB so a 19 alum would do. My boat with a 17 over revs and with a 19 does about 5400 so on yours I think you might get 56-5700 from the 19(redline is 5800). I got a 2 piece jackplate and added an alumium plate to make it a one piece for the most part. I have mine jacked about 4 inches up with a 5" setback....LOVE it.
