Was going to go with the 115, but decided to heed sage advice (Bigshot and JB). Hull is a 1972 pre-smirk nauset formerly powered by 1975 85 hp rude. Do I need a jackplate to avoid altering splash well in order to access lower mounting bolts, and if so which plate is recommended. Also is 13X19 the best prop choice?

thanks

I've got an OMC SS 13.25 x 17 on my 1979 Newport and she spins at 5600RPM's and 37 MPH with just me (160lbs.) in the boat. I mounted mine an 1 1/2" above the transom without a jackplate.

Look at: http://bellsouthpwp.net/j/s/jstachow/Homepa/Homepa6/stack6.htm

The water line is now just above the transom drain tubes. But I have a livewell rear casting deck which adds about 40lbs. to the rear.

Excellent page of photographs. I like your console. It looks very military.
