Installed doel-fins on 13 sport w/40 HP. Big, big improvement in performance. It was especially a pleasure running the inlet with wakes and waves that used to soak us. I used one bolt, and actually the hole sternward, because I don't have a 90 degree drill attachment. My thanks for everyones input from previous posts on the subject.

I'll second that on the Doel Fin. I recently put one on my 13'w/35hp. Best improvement money can buy. Smoother ride, quicker plane and a whole lot more stable at higher speeds. Anyone contemplating this addition...DO IT. You won't regret it...

What year boat are you driving? I have a 2002 model and would add the fin if I thought it would be useful, as I can get it for nothing.

On classic 13's I totally agree. Wish they made them when I was running 13's. The one bolt is fine. I only used one bolt on my 60mph Checkmate.

Apparently my 50 Johnson once had a Stingray
hydrofoil because the cavitation plate has holes that measure the same as those on the Stingray. The Doel Fins are smaller than the Stingray. Anybody know how the performance would compare ?

After a few times out with the boat, I still enjoy the handling and performance with doel-fins. However she seems to use more gas. Perhaps another way to solve handling problems in a 13' is to raise the engine and maybe change the propeller. On plane, I trim up to just under the point that she begins to porpoise.

Hello Florida15,
I also have a 15' Striper with a 60hp. Johnson. Purchased with a stingray on it, I don't know the differences between it and the Doel-fin except price is quite a bit higher for the stingray. I will add someone modified mine and cut it in two pieces, and added torque stabilizers on the stingray.

Haven't water tested yet but plan on trying with and without the stingray. Will try to report back and add some pics.
