Atleast that has a standard V hull design, similar to a bass boat... The thing that makes the same sized whaler more frightening is the fact that the whaler has multiple low points to drag in the water, as it chine walks...

I guess you've never driven a fast vee hull.
When they get out of shape, it can be bad!

My 16 ft AllisonCraft scares the hell out of me compared to my 13 ft Whaler.

When you've put a couple hundred hours on a 16'5" padvee performance hull with a 280hp 2.5 Merc, it's hard to hold a meaningful conversation about scary Whalers.

I'll be soon finishing rigging my 1970 13' with an OMC 2 cyl shortshaft power trim 50 that dynos 58 hp at 6100 rpm. The hull has been straightened and sharpened. I'll let you know how that works out..

Whalers rule.

What was done to get the HP up? Porting, bigger carb(s), exhaust work?

Now you just need one of those pointed lower units that they used to run on the 45Hp 2Cyl OMC racing engines...
