I am considering a Mills forward shelter for a 2001 Daunt 18. Mills has no photos on web.

Any experience with this option? How is it attached to the boat? Ease of install/removal?

Does it double as a mooring cover?

I was not aware Mills made canvas for a Dauntless, but if they do, go for it.

The Forward Shelter needs a gunwale lip all around to function properly. At least that's how they are done for the Outrage series, which should be similar on an 18 Dauntless.
Does the Dauntless have the raised bow inner gunwale edging?

The front 1/3 fastens with snaps screwed into the raised portion of the gunwale, then has 3 or 4 lashing hooks, spaced about 18" apart for the remainder of it's length. There are usually 3 SS bows. When set properly, it is firm, tight and rigid, and completely waterpoofs the bow area of the boat.

The SS bows are screwed into the insides of the hull, in two places. It is generally not considered removable, and stows, with boot, inside the hull, resting on the forward seats/deck area. Since it only covers the bow 1/2 of the hull, it needs the optional "shelter aft curtain" to completely cover the hull and serve as a mooring cover.
