Im thinking of buying a 1997 Evinrude 200 for one of my Whalers, can anyone give me any pro's or con's about buying this, they are carburator motors. Thanks J

Great engine. Depends on price and condition and like nay used motor, one can never tell the longevity. I have the Johnson model and she runs like a clock, it is a 1994.

John, that is a workhorse engine. By today's standard, it's a simple design. Easy to work on and one of the most dependable engines made. As Bigshot said, if the hours are reasonable and it's been well maintained, buy it.

Just bought the pair, compression checked out perfect, 177 hours, like brand new, thanks for you help. John

Their bullet proof but sure do like to drink......they aren't shy about using fuel thats for sure.
Are you sure their carbed ?
The FICHT came out in 96.

Sal, There carb's, I almost wish the were injected, but didn't have a problem with Ficht when it first came out?
