As I mentioned in the above post I am repowering our Newport 17 ('82) with a new 2000 115 FICHT in Canada, and I was wondering if anyone has tried a 4 or 5 blade prop on any of the classic 17 hulls??? I know quicksilver makes a 5 blade for thier Merc props but did not know if you can get a 13 spline hub for it...I run a land and sea prop on my little 18' scarab here in Va. and it changed the way that boat runs(3.0 mercrusier)but they do not make a 13 spline hub for it...The prop was expensive, but well worth the extra bite and hole shot it gave that boat...By the way, the wellcraft is going on the trading blocks for a ventura, or older dauntless dual console as soon as I find one I like!!!Thanks in advance!!!

I have a friend with a high-5 on a montauk - the hole shot on that boat will give you whiplash. It hold the turns really well.

That high 5 will only improve your hole shot but will knock about 3 mph off your top end.
Plus it will cost at least twice as much as a Stiletto.
4 & 5 blade props are mainly for bass boats to get the bass boys up on plane faster in very shallow water, other then that, you "REALLY" don't need one.
I'v never seen a 4 or 5 blade prop out perform a 3 blade except for the hole shot.
I'm sorry but I just can not justify the cost of a 4 or 5 blade over a 3 when it's totally not needed.
That 115 Evinrude DFI with a Stiletto 19p should push that boat into the low 50s.
$249.00 for the s/s Stiletto vs $400 "minimum" [ i can't seem to find em cheaper ] for the 4 or 5 blade.
That 115 FICHT is an awsome engine, it's gonna really surprise you.
If i'm not mistaken, it's really putting out 127 - 130 hp to the prop
