I'm getting Vibes from my new kicker

I just put on a 6 horse Merc 4 stroke long shaft on the 89 Montauk as a kicker motor. I went with the 6 four stroke instead of a 8 horse Merc 2 stroke because I wanted to run off my 27gallon Pate tank and not have a can of gas with a 50-1 mix in it. The price was the same for the 8 two stroke vs. / the four stroke, $1,500. I was going with the 8 until I discovered that you had to mix the oil in a tank and not add it to a reservoir in the motor.
What I need help on is some way to dampen the vibrations from this four stroke. It has one cylinder and it does vibrate a lot more that a two stroke. I knew this going into it but I still would like to reduce the vibrations as much as I can. The motor is mounted on a welded aluminum bracket on the port side. The mount came with the boat.
Any ideas on this would be appreciated.

There is a large difference between brackets. Possibly, your bracket isn't so good. Some brackets have dual supports, look for one rated for a 40 horse. Good luck!
