I've got an 1985 22' Outrage with a 1989 Yamaha 225hp motor. The only significant modification to the boat is a stainless t-top. We ran 90 miles roundtrip on Sunday with four people on board and burned about 60 gallons of fuel. Is 1.5 mpg what others with similar setups are getting?

Seems low but how fast were you going? What was your typical engine speed? What is the size and condition of your propeller? Is the hub in good condition (not spun)?

To provide a comparision (not exact) I push a 22' Revenge with a 225 Yamaha EFI turning a 17 inch pitch. At a cruising speed of 25 to 30 mph, roughly between 3500 and 4000 rpm, it gets nearly 3 mpg.

I get similar mileage to Peter's on my Outrage 22 with a '92 Evinrude 225 and with a 2520 Parker with 2001 225 Yamaha OX66. Your mileage seems low.

My 22'Outrage with Whaler Drive and Yamaha 250hp EFI, gives me 3mph at cruise. That includes a Tee Top and front wind curtain.

This is measured using a Navman fuel flow meter with GPS speed readings.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I was thinking that was a heck of a lot of fuel to burn up.
