Hi Guys,

Is it normal for a 2001 Dauntless 18 to take on water in the back under the stern seat? After I launch, I notice water under the seat. I have a 2001 125 HP Mercury, a 2003 high thrust 8 HP Yamaha and a Tanner stationary kicker bracket. I believe I'm near the 510 LB transom limit, but not over. Could my scuppers be defective? If I'm over the limit, it can only be a couple pounds. Will that do it? The water at the launch is calm. When underway, the water seems to be gone. Any suggestions?

If they are the flapper style, yes, they will leak after a time. I am in the same position, and as a temporary fix, I just put rubber stoppers in them. This winter I will replace them with the ping-pong ball style.

I have a 2000 18 dauntless with a 135 opti, and I get some water through the scuppers. I thought it might be the extra lbs. of the opti causing it, but now I do not think so. I was looking at the stain line on the boat, since it is new to me, and the scuppers are below the water line, this seems odd, most boats scuppers are at or above the water line. The water has not bothered me but, I might try to keep it out if possible.
