Hi Gang,

I posted this on the post classics but I think it needs to be here...'99 18' Ventura I have a brand new 175 ficht to put on it, but it is a 20" shaft...I measured the transom and it is 21", but it is a step hull and the "V" is cut back off the transom about a foot and extends down another 3"...I know most bass boats have the same setup and use 20" shafts, just wondering if I can do the same, or have to add a bay kit to extend it 5"...I know the 175 overrates the boat a bit, but it is the same weitght as the 150 and is lighter then whaler reccomends for engine weight...Opinions??? Thanks in advance...

I believe that Whaler offered that boat with either a 20 or a 25 inch shaft engine. Check the literature for the '99 or better still call Whaler and ask.

According to the 99 brochure, the 18' Ventura takes a 25" shaft.
