The engine on our 1994 Outrage 24 had a complete tune-up and service. It runs like a champ! We'd like to keep it that way.

Only genuine Evinrude/Johnson TCW III oil is being used and 89 octane gas (that's all that's available in the marinas on the water here). What additives should be put in the fuel to properly maintain the engine and protect it against carbon build-up?

Since the boat has a 196 gallon fuel tank, it is usually run with a half tank or less.

Paul, go to your nearest Evinrude Johnson dealer & get some ..."Carbon Guard", just follow the directions & use some engine tuner [ also from the dealer ] every 50 hours & your engine should run like new & last you much longer then if you don't do these treatments.

I have just sprayed OMC Engine Tuner into my twin Johnson 150's. Afterwards a billow of smoke poured out and then the engines kicked in. They sound so much better and feel more responsive. Along with Sal and advice from the boatyard in Hong Kong, suggest using after every 50 hrs.
Busy battling a typhoon right now, the OR 24 seems quite happy riding out the waves on a twin anchor mooring...
