Thanks to the millions of dollars the Archer, Daniels, Midland company (ADM) paid to elected officials, here in the midwest we get our gasoline diluted with alcohol made from excess farm crops. This bill of goods was sold as "environmentalism" but it is just a simple political money pay off so that farmers could sell their surplus to ADM who could make alcohol out of it and put it into the gasoline.
Midwest gasoline loaded with alcohol attacks rubber components which have not been specially formulated to resist them, and even does a good job on rubber designed to resist "gas-ahol."
Turning good gasoline into alcohol laden fuel cost money, so all US taxpayers subsidize this. Without your ongoing tax subsidy, ADM's alcohol market would not be price competitive.
ADM is a sorry bunch, even without this crazy theft of our money. They were recently convicted of fixing the global price of dozens of farm related products they produce and fined hundred of millions of dollars.
Read the book THE INFORMANT by Kurt Eichenwald for all the horrifying details of how these scumbags at ADM routinely practice theft, deceit, and fraud on the citizens of the United States and other countries.
ADM--the folks that sponsor all those Sunday morning political shows so they can steal more of your money and have politicians look the other way.
