Where can I find some kind of semi-comprehensive list of the motors that were cursed prior to Bombardier taking over OMC. I've read that some of the higher horsepower motors were not affected by this and I have also seen motors back to 1997 in the 100hp range be problematic. ANY help greatly appreciated!

The 150 and up Ficht RAM injected engines seem to have been the worst, Mojack. My experience was with '97 Johnson 150s (two of them). BOOM!

All other OMC products suffered declining quality control from about '97, but if any initial assembly problems are corrected they are fine.

The problem engines were the 60 degree 150,...175 hp from 97 through 99, the 200s & up were fine as long as they had the upgrade such as, larger bolts to hold the injectors, heavier insulation wires on the spark plugs, & re/routing the fuel lines & new software installed.
The upgrade on the bigger engines is an easy thing, dosen't take much time at all.
The upgrade on the bigger engines was to correct a fuel leak on a hot start that could catch fire, the bigger bolts stopped the injectors from leaking.
