Has anyone installed a trolling motor on a Montauk? If so, any opinions on bow or transom mount?

Click on the Search link in the upper right side of the page. Set "Match" to Boolean and search for

trolling AND motor AND montauk

You'll get some hits that don't apply, but lots that do.

Sorry for the empty post, someday I may get used to this mac.

This may work better.

Dick,

Thank you for the pictures. Your set up is what I am interested in doing. Is your trolling motor a Minn Kota with the quick remove mount? Could you get a longer shaft that would enable the tiller handle to be higher than the bow rail, so as to not have to reach down to control? And finally, was either the base or quick remove mount simply screwed into the bow with ss screws (no backing)? Thank You,

Jack

Mine is a 42" shaft Motor Guide, It would be nice to have the tiller handle higher but I have been able to use this system OK.
I am using the Motor Guide removable mount and the pads are attached with ss screws. There is either plywood or Whalerboard in the mounting area so there is no problem with the ss screws holding.
Power is provided by a group 27 deep cycle mounted in the anchor locker.

I mounted the MinnKota with the quick release sliding mount on my Newport. A Newport has much more deck to mount to. I can send you some pics of the install if you like, just let me know. This is my second mount. My first was on my 15GLS, same motor and mount.
