I have 40 hours on a new 2003 225 x 4 stroke Yamaha. In selecting a prop for sea level operation - tested on flat water and a full 120 gallons of fuel + skipper . . . the results follow. I also tried a Yamaha 15.25 x 19 " prop, but it maxed out at 5400 rpms (trimmed up I got it to 5700 rpms & 50+ mph). I am happy w/ the 15.25 x 17 prop. So far, fuel economy seems to be about 4 mpg or about 5 gallons per hour (based on estimated fuel usage).

[Almost impossible to post a good table due to HTML change to your text, but I re-did the chart to align it better.]

Thanks for the good information. I am sure much analysis will follow.

Wow, 4mph is fantastic. Good luck with that engine. At the NY Boat show this past Dec, it seemed that half the boats had that engine on them.

You picked a great engine.

John
