Any suggestions on mounting a trolling motor on a Montauk? I was planning on mounting the trolling motor on a piece of marine plywood and attaching it to the hull. With no wood in the front part of the hull, I am concerned as to the best way to mount it to the hull.

Yes there is wood under the flat section steps on the bow. You do not need to add a piece of wood to the mount in this front section. I used stainless steal lag bolts to mount. Check out the wood on the 17' Montauk.

And here is a picture of my boat. I have a trolling motor installed on the port side.

That's a great looking Montauk.


As Archie stated, there is plenty of support under the glass on the step pads for screws.
On my 99 I mounted it on the stbd side but it would make no difference.
