How can you tell if the impeller on a 1972 Chrysler outboard
is working? Where is the exit port for the pump located.
Thanks in advance for any info.

The "tell tale" (idle relief exhaust) is located at the front of the mid section of the leg. When first started on muffs or rather by submerging in a water tank, the idle relief exhaust will spew exhaust and lots of water, after a few seconds it will spew little water.

If you can place your wet hand on top of the head, then the temperature is ok.

There is a good web site for the Chrysler aftermarket called thechryslercrew.com and they run a form every Thursday evening at 9:00 PM you should clarify other questions and shop for parts there.
