I'M PLANNING ON BUYING A 17 MONTAUK BUT CAN'T DECIDE WEATHER TO BUY A NEW ONE WITH THE NEW HULL OR BUY A COUPLE YEAR OLD BOAT. DOES THE NEW 17 HULL RIDE MUCH BETTER WITH THE DEEPER V THEN THE OLDER HULL.

Either one will ride better if it's not carrying the weight
of all caps. ;-)

This question has come up before here, you should search on
Montauk AND ride. In a nutshell, the new one rides a bit
better.

You'll find some answers in these topics in the Cetecea Comments Forum.

Also go to the "Post-Classics" Forum, set it to Show topics from the last two years, and use your browser's "Find on this page" to look for 170

You can scroll all the way to the bottom of the page and search backwards to get the topics in a chronological order.

The 170 is reported to have a much better ride. There's no debate that it's also much larger and roomier, and much easier to move around the console, especially around forward of it where there are no bumps in the floor from large sponsons.

The newer console is shorter, which for me is a major con. Nice boat though.
