Hello all. I'm a newer whaler fan. I purchased a new 150 sport with the 60 4 stroke bigfoot about a year ago. Love the boat! Also like dropping in on Whaler forum from time to time to see whats going on. This is my first post. I received a prop comparison from Whaler to see whether I should consider the new SS Vengeance option for my bigfoot. The performance seems almost identical with maybe a little top end LOSS with the Vengeance. Has anyone had any experience comparing these props? Has anyone heard anything on the subject? |

by any chance is the prop grey on your 60 bigfoot....notice that all other aluminum props on mercury motors are painted black? there is a reason..do you know why? |

I recall it had something to do with a special hub that the 4 stroke needed to shift smoothly. At the time, 03, this was the only prop available. I just recently saw the SS prop showing up on the new models. I don't know if a hub modification would be needed on my 60 (flo-torque) for the SS or not. |

See my response in this thread concerning the hub, and for links to a comparison of the 14" Vengeance to the 15" Black Max on the 115HP four-stroke on the Nantucket: http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/002621.html I'm not impressed with the performance of the Vengeance at the just-above-planing cruise speeds. Seems like quite a bit of slip. The top speed on the Nantucket was about the same for both props. -- |
