I just ran my 1964 Nauset for the first time with a 1997 Yamie F50. Two people, 18 gals fuel, fish box (empty) No seats.
Got 23mph (GPS) @ 4500. Is that in the ball park for this engine?
Engine set on top holes.
Handles and turns nice.
Just feels like it's not doing as much as it could be.
Mahalo.

sounds close to my T50 on my 16/17 Katama. Mine is a four stroke with the "high thrust" version, and it tops out at 30mph at about 5500 trimmed as far up as possible, with just me on board and 12 gals or less. Your boat had more weight and perhaps more weight for console, etc.

you're right in the ballpark.

I have allways run Mercs and don't know what the max RPM of that Yamaha F50 is. It sounds like you are well below the max. What prop are you running?

I had the merc 50 4 stroke on my Montauk mounted up on the third hole and running a 13 pitch Merc 4 blade Trophy Sport. With 2 adults, a fat dog and a fairly heavy load I was topping out at 33 MPH at 5800 RPM.

I just checked the Yahama web site and the F50 should turn between 5000 and 6000 RPM. It sounds like you are way over proped.

I used to live in Honolulu and miss both Islands and people.

How about exercising your rights as a moderator to clean up some of the offensive crap that is going on here rather than changing a simple title asking for my help.

If anyone should be asked to use e-mail to contact individuals it should be the ones using this forum for vindictive purposes, no names included as you should be able to figure out who they are.

I have been on this forum for several years and have enjoyed sharing my BW knowledge with all and I appreciate the fact that you set up the forum and keep it alive. I do have a problem with the fact that you felt it necessary to exercise your power as moderator to waste your time on this thread rather than cleaning up and controling some that need it.

LuckyLady and all my e-mail is RPete2001@comcast.net

If jimh wants it that way, that way it will be.
