I am in the market for a new prop. I am currently running a Mercury 3 blade stainless (the old standard "black max"). I am wondering what the advantages are of going to a 4 or 5 blade, or should I just stick with a updated 3 blade. I do a lot of skiing, I want a good hole shot, easy planing but don't want to kill top end. Ideas?

Mor eblades, better holeshot but slightly less top end. If you are happy, keep prop you have. Cheaper to have it refurbed and rehubbed($75?) then buy new.

Ps if you do go for a new prop, get one with ventilation holes ofr holeshot.
