Has anyone actually mounted a Mercury or Yamaha 75 hp 4 stroke on a Nauset? I've searched pretty thoroughly through the forum and have only seen speculation that the weight might be a problem so most people steer clear.

My problem is that used 70 hp Suzuki/Evinrude/Johnsons are hard to come by in Minnesota and paying for new would be impolitic at best on the home front. Used 75 hp 4 strokes are pretty easy to come by, although maybe that should tell me something.

I've got the original 55 hp Fisher Pierce currently (not running) but want to power up for skiing or whatever as my kids get older.

I own a 1973 Katama, and was wondering the same question. I currently run a 70hp Evinrude and one day would like to upgrade to a 4 stroke. Would a 60hp 4 stroke Mercury be able to push these boats? They are much lighter than a 70-75hp 4 strokes. Thanks, Bobby
