What is the best way to remove varnish in a Mirax aluminum fuel tank

If you are talking about a 12-gallon on-deck tank, just drain the fuel from it. Add some solvent. Agitate. Let it soak. Drain. Repeat as needed.

What solvent? Mineral spirits for a starter, perhaps?

Berryman's B-12 comes in liquid form and is a carb cleaner($2.95) and will eat that gum up in seconds.
