I recently purchased a 1988 15' Whaler with a 1988 70 hp Evinrude. It came with a 21 pitch aluminum prop that turned about 5000 rpm's. I put a 19 pitch SS prop on recently and hit 5500 rpm's. Should I stay with the 19 pitch or try for a 17 pitch and bring it up to 6000 rpm's. What about a four blade prop? Any comments?

The 17" will probably turn more than 6000RPM. Atleast, that is what I have experienced with my own 1985 15' Sport with a 1985 70Hp Johnson. I use the 19" SS for everyday use and drop to the 17" for pulling slalom skiers.

The 17" is too little pitch and tends to run past redline if I push it to WOT without a skier. However, Holeshot is incredible with the 17" and no skier...

I've always wanted to try a 21" pitch... Was it a 12-3/4" diameter?
