Got a dumb question. I've been told that replacing the prop and hub is easy, but I need the "number" for it. Are the numbers embossed somewhere on the prop? Or, do I measure it? 1990 Evinrude 115, aluminum prop. Thanks, CLW

If it is an OMC prop, there should be a part number cast into the hub. Also, the dimensions of the propeller are also cast onto the hub. |

If the propeller is an OEM model from Evinrude/Johnson, it will, as Peter affirms, have its size clearly stated on the propeller. Unfortunately, many other brands of propeller do not have such clear markings, and you may have to infer the dimensions of the propeller from some part number markings and consultation with a catalogue listing. It is a good idea to remove the propeller from the propeller shaft at least once a season. The shaft should be well-greased with a waterproof grease. If the propeller is allowed to remain on the shaft for long periods, it is possible for corrosion between the shaft and propeller to form. This will make removal much more difficult. |
