Hi - I have a great deal on a 1999 60 degree 90hp Johnson lined up. It needs a cowling. I've looked everywhere (ebay, etc.). A new one is +600$. That negates the "good deal" part of it. Anybody have an idea where to pick one up used or cheaper?

BTW - will have a 1985 70hp Johnson for sale soon. Runs well, can demo, have pics.
Thanks

On a statistical basis there has to have been many more engines that failed due to powerhead problems than due to cowling problems. This implies there must be more used cowlings in good condition available than there are used powerheads or complete motors. They have to be out there somewhere.

Try "Marine Parts Outlet" www.marinepartsoutlet.com . I'm local to the one in Stuart, FL. They were without power on Monday, but hopefully they are back in full swing after Hurricane Frances... They may have when you're looking for.

Fairwinds Marina located near Annapolis, MD
Lot's of old and new OMC stuff. The place is somewhat of a museum for outboards. Real extensive used and closed out parts dept. No, I don't work there.

There's one on Ebay at the moment for a 115hp Johnson with a Buy It Now of $210. Peel the "115" off the back IF they are otherwise identical...

dont know what its worth. Still runs well, but t/t is going fast. My mechanic might want it and will give me some trade-value.
If that doesnt work out, I will post it on the marketplace in a month or so.
