I have a 160 Dauntless with a 115 mercury classic 2 stroke. I have the stock Black Max Aluminum 13x19 prop. At WOT I get 4800 RPM (Max 4850-5200) with engine in the 2nd hole. I do some skiing and also do a lot of shallow bay fishing on the Texas coast which is tearing up the aluminum prop. I would like to get a SS prop for better durability. I was thinking about a Stiletto or possibly a Vengeance. Should I stay with a 19 pitch or go down to a 17 pitch. Any other SS props I should consider? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bryan

It sounds like an 18" Vengeance would work for you, and give you more top end speed. If you want aftermarket performance designs, I would look at Michigan wheel Rapture rather than Stiletto, since the Rapture uses the interchangeable Mercury hub system, which makes buying, selling and repairing a prop much easier, since any brand can run it. Whether to use 17" or 19" pitch is a guess.

I have a Dauntless 14 foot with a 2-stroke merc 75. Started with a 21" black max that couldn't reach WOT with any load in the boat. I purchased a 19" black max and hit the WOT I was looking for. Finally I went to an SS 18" Vengeance that basically gave me the same WOT as the 19" black max with better performance (faster to plane and about 42 mph at WOT).

Since you are at the very low end of your WOT range I would suggest that you drop down in pitch to an 18" or 17" when going from aluminum to SS.
