Looking for suggestions for the smallest plate. 5 inch can be reversed? at factory to give 2 and a half inches of setback, or purchased and reversed myself. Will cowling hit anything while trimmed up for over the road travel. Any suggestions appreciated.

Anyone interested, Bob's is a couple of bucks cheaper than CMC, by ordering direct. $197 plus shipping. Thanks. zot.

Zotcha:

Make sure the steering cable will slide into the tilt tube. My 17-Montauk has a 4-inch CMC set back brackets. Any less, and the transom would interfere with proper routing of the steering cable. Basically, when the engine is mounted to the transom, the cable (barely) runs in front of the transom, and into the tilt tube. With a 4-inch set back, the cable (barely) runs behind the transom, and into the tilt tube. A 2-inch set back might force the cable to run smack dab on the transom.

Thank you. That is exactly the stuff I do not want to discover after this thing is ordered. zot.
