Just out of curiosity, any of you buy a new 130 Sport that had a early 80's vintage before? We have a little race here once a year that the 13 runs away with. The race is a timed event through a VERY narrow ditch that takes a lot sharp turns and a few short straights. Run 2 classes, 50hp and below, 51 and higher. The 17 Montauks w/90's own the hi hp class, the 13's w/40's own the lower. Last time we ran it, a local with a 13 w/40 tiller was within a few scant seconds of the high hp class. A lot of fun to watch! Anyway, my question is; Does the new 13's turn as well as the older ones?

My guess would be the new style 13's hold the advantage in rougher water with it's deeper v hull & more weight..
As far as handling goes I would give the edge to the post 1972 & pre smirks..Especially in a race situation in calm waters.

Ditto Alan's remarks. The newer version runs better when the waves get over 6", the older version is faster and a better handler on flat water.
