I have a Dauntless 15 on a Load Rite Trailer. I'm cursed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and find it difficult to get into my boat other than using the swim deck. Is there something I can put on my trailer where I can step out about where the wheel fenders are. When I load my boat at a ramp, I'd like to get out as close to the front of the boat to finish the job. Thanks, everyone. Larry |

Seems to me an aluminum step ladder, about 3 ft tall, would do the trick. The only weigh like 10lbs and should fit in the trunk of a car. Get one with as wide of a base as possible |

Thanks, but then I have to carry a 3 foot ladder fishing with me in a 15 foot boat. Not much room for that. I'd have to put it on the ramp and step out of the boat and sometimes that's a pretty good slope to deal with. I was thinking of something to step onto between the gunwale and the trailer fender. Where I can take a step then step down into the water and winch my boat on up. I guess there is noting like that out there. Maybe I'm not describing it well enought. If anyone has an idea, I'm all ears. Thanks again. Larry |

Larry I don't know of anything, unless custom made, that works along the side of the boat. |

My Shorland'r trailer has steps built into the top and ends of the fenders. I've seen the same fenders on a trailer parts manufacturer's website (Fulton?)

can you post a picture of your trailer. Most trailers have steps in front and behind the fenders and step on top of the fender. If yours do not they can usually be changed. Onother option is to have a ladder added to the trailer. The sailboat, pontoon and catamaran trailers typically have them. Any trailer manufacturer can make one of these. Good Luck |

My Load rite trailer has the steps in the fender. Here is a photo. http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/philtyson2002/detail?.dir=22f4&.dnm=36c7.jpg&.src=ph I know you can order the fenders and change out what you have. I notice the steps make a big difference compared to my 1991 Royal trailer (no steps)for my Montauk. Phil |

Casco's LoadRite fenders look just like my Shorland'r fenders. If you got that route, find the real maker (Fulton, maybe). I'd already ordered the replacement fender when I found the OEM, and the OEM would have beem a LOT cheaper (like $20 vs $60).

Thanks, guys, great information. I will get the replacement fenders with steps and change them out. I sure appreciate the help. Hopefully some day I can pass it on. Larry |

Larry, A cheaper alternative to replacing the fenders might be self-adhesive SeaDek foam rubber step pads. I recently put them on the tops of my fenders and they work great. They come in a kit of (4) 3½" x 12" pads for $17.20 plus shipping. Here's the link: Steve |
