I have a 2-year-old 18’ Dauntless that is set up for big lake trolling (Lake Michigan) and inland lake bass fishing. I modified the bow rail and put a 100 lb thrust trolling motor up front. It turned out great. It makes an excellent all round fishing boat but I am finding my self-using in mostly on Lake Michigan. By going to the bigger boat with the different hull is there a big difference in the rid quality of the boat. Can I expect to be able to cruise at 30 MPH with 1-3 foot waves with my father or wife on board? Has anyone ever mounted a large salt-water bow mounted trolling motor on a 21 outrage?

3 ft makes one hell of a difference in the ride.
The 18 will bounce off most 3 ft waves for a rough ride, but the 21 will go right through or over them if you give her some throttle.
Much better ride on the 21'.

Scott, I have a 210 Outrage. Afriend has an 18' Dauntless. No comparison between the two. The Outrage will definitely take on more water than the Dauntless. Be sure to get at least 200 HP on the back end or will be sorry.

I have a 210 Outrage, and found my best option for electric motor was the one that mounts on the cavitation plate of the outboard. It's perfect for what I need (slow trolling for stripers on lakes) but wouldn't work bass fishing tight spots.

And I second the notion of at least 200HP. I have the 200 Verado and it's fine (top out at 46mph with t-top) but sometimes wish I had the 225 Verado.
