Have a problem with continuous oil being injected from the main oil tank to the motor reservoir causing pressure plug to unseat and oil dripping into engine. Mech’s are telling me there are 3 sensors & they have to buy all 3 at 120 to 250 bucks each to find which one is screwing up. Can this be right? I am burning a lot of oil & motor housing always has oil at the bottom. The plug is unseated after running motor about 30 minutes and the reservoir is allways over the fill mark. Can anyone shine some light on this, I have searched the list archives to no avail.

For more information on how the Yamaha oil transfer system works, go to this link:

Unless the electronic oil controller is bad, it sounds like the float level assembly is either sticking or has a bad magnetic switch in it. Many times it sticks because of oil slime or someone twisted the rubber cap and caused the float to bind.
