OK, I have rebuilt my boat and the power is in great shape, new water pump, fuel pump, electrical is all new. I went in to replace my clutch dogs and droped the lower unit to find that my shifting linkage has come apart up in the housing, thus accounting for the motor not going into gear.DOES ANYONE have a trick to get to the linkage? In the manual there is a pin and a cottar pin that connects the lower unit shifting shaft to the shifting linkage that goes from the power head area into the housing, but there is no directions to get to any of that. ANY IDEAS or Sites to get good ideas? Thanks

On the 35hp OMCs, there is a small cover plate on the side of the exhaust leg. Remove the cover, and there is a coupler on the shift shaft underneath. BillS |

If you don't have the plate, pull the water intake grill. OMC moved the junction somewhere between '79 and '82. |

Thanks for the insight, that might be really helpful. I will look when I go home. |
