Late last season I purchased a 1999 Outrage 21--Love it! One aspect of the boat I would like to improve upon: under some circumstances the hull lists into a cross wind. And so I'm planning on installing trim tabs. The one challenge: limited distance between the boarding ladder and the transom. When an adult size person climbs up there is about 9.75-inch clearance. I would have liked to try the Bennet Sport Tabs, but inadequate space. Appears traditional tabs with a 9-inch depth, and 12-inch width (9x12) would fit nicely. I have corresponded with Bennet, and to my surprise they have recommended 9x18. That seems massive to me!

What Trim Tab size and brand dix the factory install for the 1999 through 2001 Outrage 21?

Please share your specific operating experience with trim tabs on this hull, and mention the tab size. I will greatly appreciate any replies.--Timing

Don't feel alone. All Boston Whaler V-hulls tend to lean into the wind in a cross wind. It has been proposed that this is due to the steering pressure being applied to hold them on course.

Last summer I installed bennett trim tabs on my 1998 21 outrage .

The size is 9x12 inch, and they can solve the listing problem easly.

they can also improve much the ride at head seas.
