Might buy a rig with a 2005 Yamaha 115 2-stroke on it.Hopefully this is a reliable engine, anyone have personal experience with this engine? For the price of this rig it will be hard to turn down.

I have a pair 1991 versions of that engine (in 130 HP, but they only difference is carb jets) - don't think it has changed much over the years, and they have been bulletproof so far.

However, like all engines, it depends on how it was used and maintained. I believe that there is a shift linkage that could corrode and break.

They are pretty bullet proof, as was the original design OMC V4 which they were copied from ;-). The only downside is they are thirsty for their HP rating. I would not hesitate to buy a used one if the compression checked out good. First thing I would do though is install a new water pump for peace of mind. But I'd do that for any motor, not just a Yamaha. BillS
