I have an old 402 Mercury with a serial number of 7048244 but am unable to find any other information. Please help. What year is this motor? What is the model name?

It's a 40 Hp Mercury outboard from the early 1980s.

Call any good Mercury dealer. They can deduce the model year from the serial number. They should have a service manual for the motor.
