Mid 60's 13 footer with a 1983 35hp evinrude 10x13 prop.
Just tuned and rebuilt carb, seems to be running strong.
Slightly modified interior,2 people 400#s, 6 gallons gas,
and battery. Lake Lanier was fairly smooth 27mph GPS.
Does this seem a reasonable WOT?

With a 20hp Evinrude (tiller steered), I recall getting 24mph per GPS on my 1968 13' BW.

Sounds about right. Remember the engine is not prop rated so really about 28-30hp. 10x13 is right prop.

25's run about the same speed lightly loaded. The 35 handles more weight.

That speed seems slow. I had a Sport 13 with a 1977 Johnson 35 and I remember it doing 33 MPH with just me (as a teenager) in the boat.

I agree, 10" x 13" prop is the typical and usually correct prop size.

Did they have GPS" back then Tom :) I agree 27 is a tad slow but with 400#'s etc it seems about right. With 1 person she shuld hit low 30's. My 76 with a 1982 25 did 28+ on the gps with just me. With 2 people and a dog it hit 25.

Nick,

Measured mile and a watch. That boat didn't even have a pitot tube speedometer.

Power head rated, prop shaft rated, it didn't make any difference on the 35. They are all the same.

I admit that when I was 15 years old I only weighed about 150 pounds and that motor was a pull start...no battery. Just a beautiful, simple, fast boat.
