My grandfather tipped me off about a 13' Boston Whaler in a town nearby. I know I was looking for a 17' boat to begin with but if the price is right.............

Besides being smaller, if I buy a thirteen, will I lose anything else substantial in terms of my ability to ski, tube, and do watersports with my boat? Fishing will be about the same as I did that off the old 13' I had. Horsepower wouldn't be a problem as I would likely repower with a 40hp E-TEC, 40hp 4-stroke Yamaha, or a similar 40hp motor with a lot of juice (but I hear the E-TEC steals that category).

Would it be possible to mount a ski pole on the thirteen? The only thing wrong with that that I can think of is that if I take too sharp a turn the tube/skier could cause the boat to flip.

With a 40hp motor, what would I expect as a top WOT?

Sorry for all the questions but I appreciate all the help guys, boatlover15

Uh, there is a HUGE difference between a 13 with a 40hp engine and a 17' with a 90. The 17 is going to be much more stable for skiing and tubing.

You can ski behind a 13, but its going to be a lot different. And dont mount a ski pole in a 13.

Agree w/ Teak however if price is super right buy it and try it out. Hard to lose if price is right. GO 17 if 13 doesn't work. We sure like our 13 but I see 17 in the future.
