I have been casually looking around for a nice Revenge 25. I don't need to run fast. I want twins. I want 2-strokes. Am thinking of a possible repower of a Revenge 25 WT with twin Yamaha 115's, which would save some money up front and maybe on gas. Anyone running a 25 footer with twin 115's? spider |

I doubt you will save any money or gas by repowering with 115s. Personally I would not choose 115s if I had to repower my Revenge 25, 150s are quite nice. I would not want less than 135 HP V-6s at any rate if going with twins. If I were forced to repower and wanted an economical choice I would choose a 250 HP single outboard. But if you really want to save money, buy a Revenge 25 that has running motor(s) and then just run them. |

Spider, Boston Whalers are heavy boats and they need a lot of ponnies. Underpowered boats tend to use equal or even more gas than a "right" powered boat due to higher rpm for equal speed. I guess 2 130 hp outboards are the entrypoint for a 25' footer, 2 150 hp will be fine. Double rigs are fine, but buying them, they will cost almoste the double of one single motor, so think again if you realy need a double rig. regards |

Twins absoluetly do not cost "double" what an appropriate sized single will. Use my 22 as an example. I can buy a pair of E-Tec 115 for $15.8k from Eds (motors only). A 225 E-Tec is ging to set me back $13.5k if I buy the cheapest version ($15k even for the 225 H.O.), and to that most people would add a kicker which is going to eat up the difference. Same basic equation if you look to Mercury. A pair of 115 Optimax are $14.3k, whereas a 225 Optimax is $13.0k. That said, Eds is advertising a 30" Yamaha HPDI for $11k. That could be an excellent engine for a 25 - you would just need a jack plate to mount that engine on a hull designed for a 25" single. David |

The carbureted, 2-stroke Yamaha V4 115 has a reputation as a great engine but I don't think twin 115s of any brand would be enough power for a Revenge 25. Heck, plenty of Revenge 22s were originally rigged with twin 120s. |

The 1986 Whaler catalog lists max HP for the 25 Revenge WT at 300 HP. Min HP to plane is 115. A lot of these boats were rigged with 225 HP singles. Anyone running a 25 WT or similar model with something like a 225 care to weigh in on the performance of that setup? Why do people feel that they must run max HP on these boats? spider |
