I just bought a new engine for my Outrage. I was wondering what set of holes (counting from the top) in the mounting bracket other people used when mounting this engine combo.

I don't trust my local yamaha dealer to guess at it.

Thanks in advance!
A.V.

The factory recommendation is one hole up unless you have hydraulic steering in which case you mount the motor two holes up.

I predict you will love that motor. I have one on my 1988 Outrage 18 and CW member Joe Kriz helped me (actually ordered me) to raise it up one hole on my transom. The dealership had mounted it conservatively, as they are wont to do, and I was experiencing a small roostertail on plane. Joe's small adjustment made a difference, and I've enjoyed over 730 hours of flawless and economical performance from that motor over the past two and one half years. Good luck.

I have 4-stroke F115 my 1991 Outrage 17 and really like it. I have put 30 hours on her and every minute has been great.

While mine was mounted one hole up, the anticav plate is level with the bottom of the keel and probably should go up a hole.

You are going to love that motor!
