I own Outrage 17, love it. Competitively fish for salmon, walleye and now bass, also good family play boat. Use it on both inland lakes and Lake Michigan. Now have family of 5, and it is a little small. Have been planning on upgrading to a Conquest, however with recent involvement in bass contests - a Conquest or even larger Outrage models limit some of my/our interests. Can't afford two boats.I have looked at the Dauntless 220. It will work fine for bass, and I can set up adequately for salmon/walleye - good family design.
My concern is rough water handling/performance in Lake Michigan - I'm a fan of agressive hulls, and this hull is only 16% at the transom with moderate freeboard/bow deadrise. I consider the Outrage 17 to be at the lower end of good rough water hulls, but a great comprise design for mixed use/waters.
Does anyone have any first hand experience (or know of someone who does) with this boat in rough lake conditions, ie 4-5 footers, mixed direction, short crest to crest distance, etc. I'm, confident it is fine performer in inland lake chop/bays - but doubt its ability on big rough water.
