The Eastport has considerably different handling characterisitics than the Daunt 18.The Daunt 18 with a Merc 135 seemed to plane more quickly than the Eastport with a 200 opti. The Eastport is considerably faster, about 51MPH. The Dauntless moved about 42.
The Eastport is higher, the hull may be deeper. It feels less stable.
The Eastport swings right to left a little when navigating a straight path at lower speed. I did not notice this in the Dauntless.
Factory canvas ordered. Will be installed/delivered in September.
White cushions for seats snap on/off. I remove them when I trailer the boat. One fault, starboard stern seat cusion snaps come disconnected whenever storage is opened. nuisance that may lead to cushion loss when underway. May require slight relocation of snap(s).
Eastport seating is comfortable. V berth is suprisingly roomy. My wife and I are both about 6' tall. We fit...ok to sleep. V berth filler option recommended. We ordered it...awaiting delivery.
Eastport "console" area (in front of windhsield)is sloped slightly. Most noticeable after unlevel installation of fishlocator.
Eastport storage is limited. Storage areas under cuddy seats are just big enough for PFDs (about 8) and not much else. No space for larger/longer items like downriggers, net, or deck brush which I stored in/under the Dauntless stern bench seat. Dauntless compartmental storage is more plentiful. Eastport cuddy gets a little cluttered with stuff.
Ride. The Eastport definitely rides the waves of Lake Michigan far better than my Daunt 18. No trim tabs on either boat.
Eastport is in the shop for a second time since I picked it up 7/27/06. First, oil lines were reversed when rigged. The other night "check engine" indicator came on. No idea why. Took it in for computer check.
