I have just purchased a 13' sport with the mercury 40hp motor. I would like to find out how the consumption of gas will be used running at 3000-35000rmps? I have a 6.5 tank.
thanks for any and all help.

Your motor will burn about 4-gallons per hour (GPH) at full throttle, and proportionately less at lower throttle settings. For a general solution to questions like this, see

Running a 40 evinrude I will say that 3k is barely on plane so 35-3800 seems like the most economical cruise and motor seems happy. Again this is an Evinrude 2 stroke. At that speed I burn about 2gph. If you have a 4 stroke you will burn probably about 1.5. I can run about 3 hours at cruise on a 6.5 tank.

I should have mentioned initially that at "35000rmps" the motor will probably burn more than 4-GPH, but not for very long.

Breeding those moles must teach you to read pretty carefully - inquiring minds *do* want to know...
