I just puchased one of the Yamaha OX66 250s from crbenny. I am placing the motor on the back of a 22 Outrage with a 30 inch aluminum setback bracket. While this may seem like a rehash of this discussion: http://continuouswave.com/ubb/Forum4/HTML/005238.html , my interest is more than academic. The bracket is expected to arrive no later than May 1 and I hope to splash that month. My outrage has neither the cuddy cap nor the large tank of crbenny. (also no bottom paint and no t-top) PROPer suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Mike |

I'd go with the Yamaha Saltwater Series in 15.25" x 19". |

I am looking forward to seeing some pictures of the bracket installation and seeing some performance numbers for this boat. |

I recommend a 15-1/4" x 19" Mercury Mirage Plus three blade, 14-5/8" x 19" Mecury Revolution 4 or a 14" x 21" Mercury Offshore/Vensura four blade prop. |

Follow up advice now that it floats..... I have not yet added electronics or finished the details, but We have had it in the water 4 times to work out the kinks. It seems that the 15-1/4" x 19" Mercury Mirage Plus three blade prop may be a little too much. With less than 400 pounds aboard plus 20ish gallons of gas; 31 mph at 3300 rpm; 51 mph at 5300 rpm (max). The motor is mounted with the cavitation plate 3 1/2 inches above extended keel line. Seems to be correct from my observations while running. I get extreme porpoising before I can trim out to higher RPMs. Thanks, Mike |

I don't know Mike, sounds pretty darn good to me. Full fuel, big passengers and still 49 MPH at 5200 RPM on a motor with a 4500-5500 WOT RPM range? If the boat is propoisng, try raising the motor another set of bolt holes. |

Thanks Tom, I was under the impression I should be looking for 5800-6000 rpm. Mike |

Mike, Well, I could be wrong. Check your owner's manual. I was operating a fiend's Yamaha 250 OX66 last weekend and I believe John said 4500-5500. His was performing very well at 5100 RPM at WOT. |

Oh, one other thing. I'm serious about you raising your motor more. 3-1/2" is not much when set back 30 inches. I've seen motors perform optimally at 2-7/8" above the keel when only set back 10 inches! |

Only one more hole up avilable, I'll try it. Thanks again. Mike |

5500 RPM is redline on that motor. |
